Today's featured Etsy shop... Freshwater Perle Designs

I'm Kerry, and I am the owner, operator, and founder of Freshwater Perle Designs.

When did you start your Etsy shop?

I opened my Etsy shop in 2009, but had been in the process of a big move, and wasn't able to start running my shop until 2010.

What is the story behind your business name?

I chose the name Freshwater Perle, for my shop, because I have always been fascinated with the unique beauty of pearls, particularly freshwater pearls. Their imperfect shape only adds to their beauty! "Perle", is the French spelling, as a tribute to my French ancestry.

What do you sell?

I sell my own jewelry creations, which include beaded, and wire wrapped, as well as some vintage. I have always loved vintage jewelry, ever since I was a child, and my mom used to let me sit on her bed, and look through her wonderful jewelry collection, from around the world. It was magical, to me!

How did you get into your craft?

I have always loved art, and to create. I started making jewelry when I was a teenager, and I've been hooked ever since!

Anything else you would like to share?

I've always been involved with art, in some shape or form. I became a licensed cosmetologist in 1978, and from there, became a makeup artist. My dream was to someday own a business, where I could sell my creations, and also, to live by the ocean. I have lived in Virginia Beach for 3 and a half years now, and love it! Etsy has given me the opportunity to sell my creations, and also, to become friends with other Etsy sellers, all over the world!

  2. Great interview! Many people love to create jewelry, but not everyone has the "touch" whicn makes their pieces stand out. YOU clearly do! Keep up the wonderful work. I used to love looking through my Grandma's jewelry, and the beach is my favorite place :)
