Today's featured Etsy shop... TORYMakes

My name is Tory and my Etsy shop is TORYMakes

When did you start your Etsy shop?
I started my shop in September of 2013.

What is the story behind your business name?
My friends and family are always referring to the things that I make, "Oh Tory makes..." And I make a lot of things. Because I can't NOT. I've always got some creative project on the go.

What do you sell?
I sell custom handmade crocheted items in my shop on Etsy. Mostly whimsical children's hats. I love bright colors and fun designs! And that people are never that concerned with "practical" for children. That's the best part.

How did you get into your craft?

I learned to knit when I had my first baby and learned to crochet years later by watching YouTube tutorials. And it stuck. I've dabbled in every kind of art, I took a college course in everything that interested me (then wondered why it took me so long to get my degree!), from batiq to sculpting, photography and drawing. I love all art. But it was crocheting that grabbed me, and stuck. I've been doing it for years and am still learning what works and doesn't work for me. My skills are ever evolving and growing, and I'm not bored yet. I just love it!

Anything else you would like to share?
I love what I do, and I think it shows. I take care in creating each item as a one of a kind creation for each buyer. No one ever said, "That was mass produced? That's so rad!" Handmade is always cooler. Always.
